1: The woman who co-wrote the Sandpipers hit "Come Saturday Morning" has died. Dory Previn Shannon died at her home in Massachusetts. She was 86. She also wrote the theme to "The Valley of the Dolls" that was sung by Dionne Warwick.
2: Gary Carter, the former Major League Baseball catcher who helped the New York Mets win the 1986 World Series, has died of brain cancer. He was 57.
3: A pinball pioneer is dead. Steve Kordek passed away at age 100. He's credited with establishing the modern pinball design, which has two flippers at the bottom of the playfield. His casket will be equipped with two "flippers" on the sides.
