A native of Frostproof, Florida, James-Paul began his broadcasting career in radio while still in high school. He is a graduate of the University of Florida and the Mississippi State Broadcast Meteorology Program. Currently, he is completing his Master's degree in Geoscience. He holds seals of approval from the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He was one of the first broadcasters in the county to become a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society. He is also an adjunct college instructor.
