Please Support Child Abuse Prevention
One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused by the age of 18.
Eight out of every 10 child abuse victims are abused by someone they already know.
Researchers believe these child abuse statistics represent the "tip of the iceberg" and the problem is grossly underreported. (University of Michigan, 2003)
Research also indicates that preventing the tragedy of Child Abuse and Neglect could represent a cost savings ratio to society of 19 to 1, as opposed to merely treating the effect of Abuse. (Michigan University, 2002)
Alabama ranks 38th in the United States in the treatment and well being of its children and families.
